Predictive Value of Acute Phase Proteins for the Short-Term Outcome of Meningoencephalitis of Unknown Origin in Dogs

Meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO) is one the most common inflammatory diseases central nervous system (CNS). The study evaluates possible increase and potential role acute phase proteins (APPs) other serum parameters as biomarkers predicting short-term outcome dogs with meningoencephalitis (MUO). A retrospective cohort was designed. APP profile markers systemic inflammation forty-eight client-owned a new diagnosis MUO were compared between 7-day survival non-survival diagnosed MUO. Thirty-nine (81%) alive at end follow-up period, while 9 (19%) died or euthanized because None 11 studied different survived non-survived dogs; for this reason, none them could be used predictor based on results present study.
